Do It Yourself With Greg

  • Where did my "Do It Yourself With Greg" journey start?"
Well first of all I went to a technical school so I love working with my hand but never had a passion for woodworking till 2008 where my DIY projects started picking up. I moved to my place and had to start buying furniture, and while busy shopping for coffee tables, tv units, and so forth I passed every furniture piece because the only thing that went through my mind was first of all "they were crazy with their prices" secondly "this is something I can build and even better". So that's where my DIY journey started.
  • Where do you come from?
Born in South Africa, Pretoria on 1988 December 25, and stayed here my whole life.
  • What do you do for work?
Since I left school in 2006 I started working in the construction industry and started my own company in 2010, after doing successful business till early 2020 when covid struck the whole world my company, unfortunately, came to an end, I will still do the odd construction work here and there but nothing majors. I was forced to start my hobby and passion I have for creating and woodworking for an income. The good that came from covid is that I started my YouTube channel and out of my YouTube channel I started a custom furniture company called Craft House.
  • Where is your accent from?
One of the questions I receive a lot. My broken English gives it away that I'm not an English man. Afrikaans is my first language and English is my second language. So sorry if I sometimes say something out of line or funny or something that doesn't make any sense.
  • What tools do I use?
Just like any DIYer, I started off with the cheapest tools on the market and started realizing that I didn't get accurate cuts on the stuff I build, tools didn't last that long, and had to do regular maintenance on my equipment. As a DIYer that's been building stuff for more than 13 years, I came to a point in my career where I'm done struggling with tools and maintenance. I'm busy converting my whole shop to Festool, once you go Festool you will never go back!
